Exercise — A Pleasant Path to a Wonderful
Sleep
Physical fitness is another important component
of health promotion. Clinicians and researchers examining the relationship
between health and physical fitness have found that a regular exercise program
can promote health by improving the function of the circulatory system and the
lungs.
It is also known as the greatest component in
decreasing cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein concentrations, lowering body
weight by increasing calorie expenditure, delaying degenerative changes such as
osteoporosis, and improving flexibility and overall muscle strength and
endurance.
On the other hand, exercise can be harmful if
it is not started gradually and increased slowly in accordance with the
individual’s response. An exercise program should be designed specifically for
the individual, with consideration given to age, physical condition, and any
known cardiovascular or other risk factors.
Moreover, recent studies show that an
appropriate exercise program can have a significantly positive effect on the
individual’s performance capacity, appearance, general state of physical and
emotional health, as well as one’s sleeping pattern.
To date, no less than 40 million people in the
United States are affected by unceasing bouts of sleeping disorders annually.
Sleeping disorders will eventually lead to more serious health problems because
the body is deprived to regain its energy.
To solve this problem, health experts highly
recommend exercise as the main proponent in solving sleeping disorders.
Exercise, Sleeping Disorders, and Diet
When you go on a diet, you are trying to change
the shape of your body. It is pretty clear that exercise is complementary to
this. It is because exercise is the only other normal activity that actually
alters the size, thickness, contours, etc., of the physical you.
In today’s society, the number who wants to
lose so they will look better probably exceeds the number of people who want to
lose weight so they will feel better.
Exercise is important for both purposes. It is
just plain good for you.
Besides, as you get into shape, with a balanced
diet and regular exercise, your body gradually shed off excess fats, thereby,
eliminating excess fatty tissues around your neck and on your cheeks.
What most people do not know is that one of the
main causes of sleeping disorders is the build up of extra fatty tissues within
the neck area. These excesses tend to block the airway, thereby, impeding the
normal gush of air to the lungs while an individual is asleep.
Clinical studies show that sleeping disorders
like sleep apnea is commonly caused by overweight.
Exercise for Energy
Exercise’s time had come, and a good thing too.
What a bunch of couch potatoes humans were becoming. Most people find it so easy
to sit down in front of the TV and let gravity have its way with you.
Even though energy is used during exercise, it
also creates more energy. The muscles and cardiovascular system are like a car
engine. Regular exercise increases the efficiency and the other horsepower
engine.
Hence, experts note that people who are
physically fit have an easier time sleeping. This is because exercise induces
relaxation and good sleeping patterns. So the more fit you are, the more
energetic you feel at the end of the day, and the more you are able to manage
your sleeping pattern.
Exercise can bridge the sleep gap. Frequently,
fatigue has a simple cause—too little sleep. Even being an hour or so short on
high-quality slumber can make you fade.
Many Americans force their bodies to run day
after day on five to six hours of sleep, when they really need seven to eight.
According to some research, exercise can
effectively induce good sleeping pattern. And the good thing about it that is
people, who exercise regularly and sleep on a regular basis, feel more
energetic. Certainly, exercise and adequate sleep improves one’s energy levels.
In essence, sleeping disorder may not directly
pose any immediate threats to your health. But the leading consequence of it,
which is fatigue, puts you at higher risk for plenty of bad things.
People who are not physically active experience
more fatigue than those who live an active lifestyle. Furthermore, people who
are constantly tired are not usually the most effective workers or the most
understanding spouses and parents.
With this, the link between exercise and
sleeping disorder revolves on a chain reaction, where one thing can lead to
another.
So to solve sleeping disorders, try to dish out
some fat by sweating them out through exercise.
